ART STATEMENT
My work expresses my passion for light, shadows, reflections, and forms, both natural and human-made.
Over the past seven years, I have focused primarily on black and white photography. My recent project reflects my love for Northern California, especially Humboldt County, with an emphasis on its unique dreamlike landscapes. The gigantic trees, the vast ocean, the rushing rivers, and the experience of walking through the ancient redwood forests by the sea all shape this work. These images were captured between 2018 and 2026 while hiking in the woods, walking along the beach, exploring country roads, and moving through everyday spaces.
My work is influenced by photographer-explorers such as Pierre Verger, Ansel Adams, Sebastião Salgado, Araquém Alcantara, and local photographers like Nicholas Dominic Talvola.

I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I began studying photography in the early 2000s. Since then, I have traveled throughout Brazil and other countries capturing moments and filming documentaries about society and culture. My work prioritizes a poetic and aesthetic view of people and their relationship to their surroundings.
Growing up in one of the largest cities in the world has shaped my appreciation for small towns surrounded by nature. Rio de Janeiro is also a city deeply intertwined with natural landscapes, which helped me understand urban environments as human hives. I am especially interested in the points of intersection between human spaces and the natural world, what I think of as the human landscape.
